Changing Our Focus To Freedom

What does freedom look like to you?

Often there is a perception that following Christ means that we will live this restricted life with many rules and regulations that are difficult to follow.

We think that by following Christ completely our freedom will be restricted.

In Genesis 2:16 we see that God created man and then places Adam in the garden of Eden.  He says to Adam “You are free to eat of any tree in the garden, except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.”

One of the first words God says to man is, “You are free …”.

Often, we focus on what Adam was not supposed to do and miss the fact that God’s conversation started with, what Adam was free to do.  Adam chose to do something that reduced his freedom significantly.  That was not what God intended for Adam.

We have a choice to focus on the things we should not do or we can choose to live each day embracing the fullness of life that was brought with Christ’s blood a life that brings freedom and joy.
