Have you ever felt alone?
Christmas time is often described as a time of celebration and festivities but for some of us this time of the year is one of great sadness.
Whether it be through tragedy or circumstance you may find yourself feeling very alone in this season.
Did you know it is possible to be in a crowded room and still feel alone? I know this is true because there are times when I have felt completely alone. It is like I was going through the motions of life but inside I felt isolated, forgotten and very small.
When I struggled through a season of depression I felt very alone. I felt excluded from all the fun it seemed everyone else was having. And for fear of people questioning or judging me I retreated into isolation even more.
I remember one day lying on my bed face down and asking God, “Do you see me? Do you even care about what I am going through?”
Have you ever looked up at the sky at night and felt very small in light of the universe? Have you thought how could I possibly be noticed let alone cared for by God?
David marveled at the majesty of God then He asked the same question we are asking Psalm 8:4-8 “What are mere mortals that you should think of them, human beings that you should care for them?”
The answer to this question is found in this season. This season where we remember God coming to earth in human form as a Savior for us all. We celebrate the goodness and the compassion of a God who would not only see us but also reach out to us with such amazing grace.
God not only sent a Savior for our souls He is the Savior for our every day lives. He is closer than you think.
If you feel isolated this Christmas season please understand that God is closer than you think.
He sees you and He knows your situation and it is His desire to journey with you through it.
You are not alone!
Just as God reached down and gave us Jesus He is reaching down to you today.
Engage with Him today in prayer or worship and allow Him to meet you in your place of loneliness and fill it with His love.
I feel totally alone and abandoned but I know that’s not true. Lord, I really need a touch from you today to reassure me that you are closer than I think.
